What is RSS?

RSS or 'Really Simple Syndication' allows you to keep in touch with the latest news, without having to revisit websites and check for updates.

Websites offering RSS feeds should have an orange "RSS" or "XML" button on their homepage, and these include news sites, blogs, or any website that regularly disseminates information. The following feeds are provided by our partner sites:

RSS Architecture News (AJ Plus - full story requires subscription)
RSS Construction News (CN Plus - full story requires subscription)
RSS Engineering News (NCE Plus - FREE)

To view news feeds you must have a 'news aggregator' or 'news reader' - a piece of software that checks for updates, and displays the article headlines, links and description. Many of these are free, and you should be able to find an interface or service that suits your needs. Some offer news updates via email, or can be viewed on PDAs and cell phones.

Examples include:
Bloglines
Sage (Firefox browser extension)
FeedDemon
Newsgator
NetNewsWire (for Mac OS X)

Setting up a feed differs from one aggregator to another, but it usually involves copying the URL of the feed (from the address bar on your browser) and pasting it into the reader. Feeds can be added or removed at any time.
