Syon View, London Road, Isleworth, Middlesex TW7 5BQ

Syon View is a development of 12 three-storey townhouses arranged in two terraces of six houses backing onto Syon Park, the London home of the Dukes of Northumberland for the past 400 years. Ten of the houses have a standard internal layout, and were sold at prices from £480,000 to £495,950, but two of the houses had a more flexible internal arrangement and a higher specification, which accounted for their higher prices of £529,950.

The show apartment seen here is one of the latter. It is a three-bedroom end-of-terrace house with a large kitchen/dining room on the ground floor, plus a conservatory (or garden room), together with an entrance hall, cloakroom and integral garage. The living room is on the first floor, so as to enjoy the SE-facing view over the wall of Syon Park. Bedroom 2 is also on this floor, with a family bathroom. On the top floor, lit by dormer windows in the roof, are a master bedroom with a wall of twin fitted wardrobes and an ensuite shower room; and the third bedroom (or study).

The all-white modern interiors of the show house were created by Claude Hooper Interiors to appeal to design-oriented young professionals in West London. Low-level and diffused lighting is used, and natural textures give variety rather than colours. Grey stone flooring in the kitchen contrasts with the warm wooden floor of the entrance hall, and white carpets throughout the first and second floors are softened with deep-pile rugs. Textured wallpaper has been used alongside smooth-painted finishes, and soft white voile curtains or simple roller blinds are used at the windows. The judges thought it was "a clean, light, calm and functional interior, well executed and good value for money."
